ATT&CK® The Gap
Did You Know? Our industry, by the numbers:
- Women make up only 20-25% of the cybersecurity industry, low even relative to other professional services such as law (53%), accounting (46%), and doctors of medicine (37%). 87% of cybersecurity professionals in senior positions are men.
- Only 26% of the cybersecurity industry identifies as a racial or ethnic minority, with an even more extreme makeup at senior levels (only 17%). However, this dynamic already seems to be changing; 66% of cybersecurity professionals entering the industry this past year identified as non-white.
- While unemployment levels for former military members is lower than the general population, former military members are ~16% more likely to be underemployed than the general population. ~200,000 military members depart from service each year in the US, presenting an opportunity to close the skills gap with professionals already possessing the skillset and mindset to prioritize security and standard.
- More than half of hiring managers in a recent ISC² survey (59%) agree that they see an increase in job applications from technically experienced people with no prior cybersecurity experience. Again, more than half (51%) say their organization is changing their hiring requirements to recruit more people from non-cybersecurity backgrounds.
MAD20 Technologies is proud to commit $1,000,000 to train over 2,000 cybersecurity practitioners to help close the industry's diversity gap.
